The civil rights movement was just that, a movement, but unfortunately that movement has slowed to an unacceptable crawl and in some cases has come to a screeching halt. Even more unfortunately, the progress towards a truly effective and sustainable partnership between white and black America has been retarded because African Americans have dropped the baton. To be sure, white America is every bit as culpable, if not more culpable, in contributing to the continued disparities that exist between the majority and the minorities of this great nation.
